Who We Are
More Than Just a Church
We are a family of believers united by faith, love, and a commitment to serving God and others.
Our Mission
Empowered by Faith
We are called to reach the lost, disciple believers, and impact the world with the love of Christ.
Our Vision
Transforming Lives
Our vision is to be a thriving church that transforms lives, strengthens families, and impacts the world through the Gospel.
Our History
A Legacy of Faith and Community
Our church's journey in Sioux City began in the early 2000s as a small, independent congregation in Brother Javier Calvo's home. Over time, the church grew in both faith and numbers, and despite many challenges, it continued to thrive. In 2004, the church joined the Apostolic Assembly of the Faith in Christ Jesus and, after overcoming periods of trial and transition, flourished under new leadership. Today, the church is a vibrant community of approximately 120 active members with six Friendship Groups in Sioux City. In 2023, we celebrate a historic moment by hosting the Mid-America North Regional Convention and ordaining our first ministers.
What We Believe
Firm in Faith, Guided by the Word of God
At Centro de Amistad Cristiana, our beliefs are deeply rooted in the doctrinal principles of the Apostolic Assembly of the Faith in Christ Jesus. We uphold the Bible as the divinely inspired, perfect, and authoritative Word of God, and as the foundation of our faith and practice.
One God
We believe in one God who has manifested himself as the Father in creation, the Son in redemption, and the Holy Spirit in the hearts of believers.
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit, as evidenced by speaking in tongues, which empowers believers to live holy and victorious lives.
Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is God manifested in the flesh, born of the Virgin Mary, and the only way of salvation.
Salvation
We believe in repentance, water baptism in the name of Jesus, and the filling of the Holy Spirit as essential steps toward salvation.
The Bible is our Foundation
We believe that the Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God, which guides our faith, doctrine, and daily life.
The Church is the Body of Christ
We believe that the Church is the body of Christ, called to worship, serve, and spread the Gospel to all nations.
